Absolutely. A million seconds is only 11.6 days. Granted, many of the larger numbers take several seconds to say, and of course you'll need to sleep periodically. But based on the scale of this number, it's more than possible to count to a million in a lifetime. Even if every number took ten seconds to say and you could only use half of each day to count, it would take under a year.

A lifetime is in average, for the industrial countries, a 75 years torture. Why would I kill myself before time counting? Ha, ha. Just kidding. I'll answer your question.
Each year has 365 days and 1/4. Each day has 24 hours. For the 365 days and a fourth, this will be of 8,766 hours.
In an hour there are 60 minutes. So, logically, there are 525,960 minutes in a year.
A minute contains 60 seconds. Henceforth, there are 31,557,600 seconds in a year.
Now, here's the fun: we are going to determine how many seconds we live in average. We just have to multiply and come up with 2,366,820,000 seconds spent in a lifetime.

Then, if someone needed to, he would be able to count to more than 11 billion ( I myself can count to five in a second).

This is not practical, however. One cannot start counting at his birth, nor can pass all his time counting without sleeping. Taking out all these factors, there would be about less than 2/3 after the sleeping, since we spend about 2 hours eating a day (that would make 54, 787.5 in a lifetime) there would only be 1,577,825,213 seconds left to count (neglecting the other factors).
Again, this is not practical. But theoritically one can count much further than to 1 million in a lifetime.

Sure you could; because you could easily count to a thousand in an hour and if you just spent an hour of each day counting, you would reach a million in less then three years--a long time but certainly feasible in a lifetime.

Yes, because I've done this when I was smaller. I counted from one to ten and made tally marks on a sheet of paper. I repeated this process everyday on car trips home. Then I added it all at the end of the summer vacation and got to a million. Drove my parents nuts.

yep! assuming you count 1 with every second (in other words up to 60 in one minute) then in 1 hour you can count up to 3600 and hence in one day you can count up to 86400 and hence in a week up to 604800 and before two weeks are up you will have reached a million.

If you count faster it will obviously take you less!

of course. a million is very small. You could even do a billion. And possibly a bit more - assuming you did nothing else of course.

yes it would only take about 23 days since the longer numbers would take longer to say
