x=0

2x+4y=8
2(0)+4y=8
0+4y=8
4y=8
y=2

y intercept is (0,2)

Whenever they ask you for an intercept, plug in 0 for the other value. So, if they ask for the x intercept...you plug in 0 for y and if they ask you for the y intercept...you do what i did above which is plug in 0 for x. Not too hard huh?

You want you equation in slope-intercept form: y = mx + b
Solve it for y as in the previous equation you posted.

An alternate way is substitute 0 for x and solve for y. A y-intercept always has 0 for the x coordinate.
