Mark Foley plans to name the clergyman he claims sexually abused him many years ago.His attorney says the revelation would deflate claims the former congressman fabricated the allegations as an excuse for sending sexually explicit e-mails to teenage pages.

No. It's excuse after excuse. If he had such a traumatic experience, how could he have not dealt with it by now? I know sexual abuse is serious, so much so that it permeates into every aspect of your life. Often emotionally crippling an individual, and definitely inhibiting forward momentum and eventual success. Had he not gotten through this, how did he manage to get so far?
He's pulling every card out of his a$$ that he can. Next he'll be stating he's inbred or something...

If this clergyman is still alive and in active service, then yes, I care that he be taken out of a position where he can do any more harm.
Will it make any difference in the election. No, not a bit.
Will it make Foley any less reprehensible? No, not a bit.
But I'm willing to bet that Foley was never molested and was just covering his a$$. He's spent the past three weeks trying to find the name of a clergyman who:
(A) has already been accused of pedophilia
(B) is dead
(C) once had contact with Foley
Why did it take three weeks to name the guy? It took that long to find someone who fit those criteria.

Is the clergyman not covered by the statute of limitations...? I've heard of other families who had no luck filing lawsuits for sexual abuse because of such things... So can he legally name and defame the character of the clergyman at this point anyways... I really don't know, but it seems kind of fishy...
This isn't the kind of embarrassment the clergy man's family deserves all because Foley has to blame soemone else for being such a loser. This is pathetic!
There is no good reason to name the clergyman and make a publicity event out of it... the clergyman's case should be handled the way these cases are typically handled legally.

Yeah, don't you? I care if pedophiles are running loose and abusing children, regardless of who they are or what political party affiliation they have. Now, if you are asking if he names the clergyman if that will clear Foley's name, I don't think it will. Nor should it. But I bet the clergyman he names is dead and has been for quite some time.

Yes and no, it will expose another predator, that is good. But no Foley is still a pedophile no matter what the reasons are for it.

It depends on what this guy is doing now. If he is still in a position to be near kids then people should care, especially the parents of the kids.

No. It will just cause pain for lots of others and it is over and past. I hate it when people blame past incidences for their own poor choices. We all need to take responsibility for our own actions no matter what may have happened in the past.

and trying to blame it on his "abuse as a child crap"..... is just an insult to the thousands of victims that are abused by child molesters and have the conviction and sense to NOT repeat the cycle!!!!!!
