Working in education expands your knowledge of what giving really is. It strengthens your heart to care about what you once might of thought, was meaningless. Education gives you a reason to wake up everyday. Ultimately, education gives back to the educator a more enduring patience, a giving attitude, a sense of healing, in which we never really know we need until we are the educator, a loving and genuine desire to share and be taught by youth in all capacities and a pure sense of being valued for who we are. Why work in education you ask,......to learn and gain powerful experience, from innocent youth who have a WHOLE LOT to give! Education was my dream as a youth, and after 9 years of college and 20 years as a special education teacher, I would do it all over again. Being a teacher and helping those who so desperately need our trust and guidance, is the best gift in life I have ever received! If you have the desire, the heart and the stamina to work hard, teaching can be a most fulfilling career!

Although it is impossible to help EVERY child and/or adult (which ever kind of teaching path you choose to take), it does not mean education should not be taken seriously. If students don't have good education then what's left for the new generation, and the generations that follow? To know that you, as a teacher, can help AS MANY students as you possibly can with your own knowledge to improve living statuses (hopefully) should be a wonderful feeling. The same applies for doctors, nurses, etc.

It's never boring - you might follow a timetable but no two lessons are ever the same.
You get to work and meet a variety of people: children, parents, other teachers, people from other agencies like pychologists, speech therapists (list can go on)
You are helping to influence a future generation and guide them in their learning.
You are able to develop your own interests eg. ict, sports and use them with children

Because there are a lot of stupid people. You can help abolish stupidity. Either you like to help people or you are crazy. Only 2 reason to get into education.

Actually its those that CAN'T do, teach. And education is a great way to go. You won't be rich but you will be set up with decent wages, great benefits, good vacation, and better retirement.

Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach.
Following that line of thinking people only work in education because they're not capable of doing anything else.

No two days are the same, but if you're only in it for the money and the long holidays and have no real passion for learning yourself - give it a wide berth.

I've done it, it's great sharing your knowledge with someone else, and the rewards of that persons happiness at learning something new is a good feeling... And they'll always remember you too...
