I am a finance major from Florida International University and have had some accounts payable work experience. My question is what good career can I find with a Finance major with about 3 years experience in accounts payable. I am in a dilemma because finance majors ussually end up with sales and commision only positions. So what can I do so my degree wont be wasted because I have noticed that account payable careers are usually left for non-degree candidates and accounting careers are left for accounting majors. And I don't want to waste my time and money with more toilet paper refering to another degree. So what should I do so my finance degree won't go to waste.

Financial Planner
Financial Consultant
You can have a career with an financial investment company or you can work a bank.
Teaching
You can obtain an MBA in finance or accounting and you will have many opportunities. I would check with my college/university career center and ask them. Those are the career fields that I know about, there would be others. Best Wishes!

Consulting. I'm not sure about just with a finance major, but you could offer your advice/services to new businesses starting out. You could also become a financial planner but target those with portfolios under $50,000. It's hard to find one that will talk to you unless you have $250,000 or more invested. People are clueless about money, you could help even by giving a talk at the library then pass our your card to those interested in your services. It would take a while to get the business going...but it sure beats 9-5 and a desk.
