No.
Just those individuals with high levels of narcissism and no empathy.
We all have a darker side, called self-preservation and survival instinct. Sometimes that has a negative effect on others.
But sadism is deliberate, malicious, and intentional; it seeks pleasure in another's pain or demise. That's not normal.
Sadism and spite are closely related (though spite is more defensive), and the most unattractive human qualities.
Empathy and compassion are related also, and the most attractive and valuable qualities a human can have.

I think so, to a certain extent. It's kind of a survival thing. Everyone is capable of having sadistic thoughts, and everyone DOES (whether they admit it or not). It's just that a normal person can control it and is conscious of it, accept it and realizes that it isn't something to be acted on. Some people lack that control.

It can be unlearned, with practice & time, just like every other mental habit we have.
I would not say this if I had not seen this as true in both my practice as well as others'.
