What do you think? Would you want your child to participate in this? Any thoughts?

In most situations in the recent past less people might have died if they had fought back. There is no question that in close quarters force of numbers will overcome even a well armed foe. But we must also remember that in the last few years less that 50 folks a year have been killed by school shooting. About 100 people under the age of 18 die each yer from bee stings. So I am not sure that a national campaign of anything is called for at this time.

Absolutely. I have already personally trained my children (ages 12 and 9) to respond to adult violence in the school by:
1. Run like crazy, don't stop till you get home.
2. If you can't run, fight like crazy till you CAN run.
This is definitely preferable to laying down under a desk and waiting to be shot. Anyone who doesn't believe that this is the only solution for our children has not thought it through. Please reconsider. If the persons on the planes during 9/11 had the same mindset, the worst that would have happened was what happened to the plane that went down in the field. Yes, they all died - but they didn't take anyone with them. They are heroes.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Anytime we instill our kids with any form of leadership skills we are doing right by our future.
America has developed too much of a "victim's" mentality. The old stupidity of thinking, "Don't do anything to piss-off the bad guys and maybe they won't hurt us too much." I'd rather fight back, even with the possibility of getting hurt, than be a wimp who lets the bad guys walk all over me.

Not a good idea, It is dangerous and by the time one identifies a school shooter, there are already innocent people dead. Violence is not the answer, this group is like saying it is okay.
This is a crazy thought...and should never be considered...
It is only going to get more innocent children killed.

It won't hurt. It teaches people to be aware. It may make a potential perp. think twice. The best defense is a good offense.
The likelyhood of ever having to do anything is remote.

I think it is absuletly nuts. A guy points a gun at the students and then one of them picks up a book and throws it at him.....wow, would be easier to go lie down in traffic!!
