In my family all of the adults have their own speciality so we all take part. Fortunately we are all good cooks and it makes for interesting times in the kitchen. It sort of has the feel of a busy restaraunt but fun at the end of the day.

I've been cooking the dinner for the last 5-6 years. The last 3 years we had to pack it all up and take it to may parent's house because they thought it was too much to come to my house. They have both passed away during this past year and by brother lives nearly 500 miles away, my step-daughter and her family usually have to go to his family so I imagine it will just be my husband, our son, my cousin's daughter we raised and myself. My husband makes the pumpkin pies completely from scratch (I prepare the pumpkin- a real one) but I do everything else. I like to do it.
Happy holiday to all!

I enjoy cooking the Thanksgiving feast but this year my daughter will be doing it. I'm having hip replacement surgery a few days before Thanksgiving so I'll be the main eater this year. OH NO!! I won't be able to make my wonderful two layer pumpkin pies. OH NO!!

My sister in law always makes the meat and mashed potatoes and stuffing. The rest of us kick in with veggies and salads and desserts. I always have to bring the green bean casserole and the turkey gravy it's tradition! I always get stuck making my own turkey as my family has to have turkey sandwiches till they run out their ears. I make turkey salad too. We always have to have extra pumpkin pie and cookies at home. This year may be different as my wonderful daughter has lost 125lbs since Jan '06 on Optifast and doesn't want to gain any back.
I really enjoy going to Ginny's for a holiday as there are lots of people, several rug rats and a general good time. Ginny has a hot tub outside but I am chicken to go in when it is snowing out...

That job will go to the local grocery store. It's just my husband, cat, and myself.I quit all that being a slave to the kitchen years ago.My mom usually cooks a ham,but I don't eat pork,so we'll probably stop for a visit, and my husband will stuff his face. Then we'll bring a plate that my mom will send to his mother, and visit with my mom-in-law,and come home and watch football.Oh,and my mom will send a few scraps of ham for her "grandcat".As for myself, more than likely cottage cheese or yogurt, with fruit.
That is wonderful that your husband shares in the cooking duties,I'm assuming he's a very good cook. From our house to yours,Happy Holidays, and good health. God bless.

easily, i do no longer use many (if any) of those cheats, because of the fact for me thanksgiving HAS to have an rather distinctive style. It has to style like my mothers and fathers' cooking and that they continually did each and every thing from scratch. each and every time I truly have thanksgiving with my husband's family individuals, my MIL continually basically makes use of canned green beans, brown gravy in a packet, and stovetop and it basically does not accept as true with my tastes. I make the stuffing from sparkling bread cubes from the bakery, chop some greens and throw in some herbs, upload some liquid and bake. i do no longer cook dinner them interior the turkey because of the fact for some reason it creeps me out. Mashed potatoes are continually produced from real potatoes. And easily, i don't comprehend why human beings difficulty with the instant stuff, as mashing potatoes is so rather undemanding. the sole ingredient it's time ingesting is boiling the potatoes. I make my dad's cranberry rejoice with from finished cranberries, sugar, and oranges. I hadn't even seen the canned gloopy sauce till final year haha. Gravy is produced from the turkey's very own drippings and the giblets, with some cornstarch and butter. I even use the turkey carcass later on for turkey soup. i think of a few circumstances i've got used frozen green beans particularly of unpolluted as quickly as I make my pro green beans, yet it is basically if i won't be in a position to locate solid sparkling beans. Yam casserole is often my dad's recipe, made with real baked yams, blended with butter and brown sugar and baked with marshmallows. i think of the sole issues i take advantage of pre-made are the rolls, which i purchase interior the frozen dough balls and upward thrust and bake, and if i'm making something with pumpkin i take advantage of the Libby's canned undeniable pumpkin. i will say even with the incontrovertible fact that, i do no longer make pie. I made a pumpkin pie as quickly as and it did no longer come out ideal, so ya, i will purchase a Marie Calendar's pie anyday. length and who i'm cooking for does not count too plenty. the two way, I make the comparable volume of food. Leftover continually substitute into sandwhiches, turkey chili, enchilada bake, cranberry waffles, or they get frozen. This year i'm cooking an entire meal for my husband and that i in undemanding terms with the point of having a ton left over to get via till next month. as a results of memories linked with it, thanksgiving is truly the single time interior the year that i do no longer use packaged stuff.

My husband usually does the majority of the cooking and I do a side dish and dessert. This year, his ex gets visitation w/his kids (He has custody) so we will probably only have my daughter and his oldest (she hates visiting her mom). We plan on going out to a nice restaurant for our meal....
