Naming a child is probably one of the more difficult decisions parents are given. Andrew is a great boys' name, not only because it is recognizable but there are different nicknames that can come from it. BUT when picking a middle name, you really need to consider the entire name and any possible nicknames to make sure there is a good "flow"...for instance.. names that rhyme or initials that will make a not so pleasant word (andrew steven smith - ***). I have always thought that a shorter first name requires a longer middle name to balance and vice versa. Go with your gut, pick several and just say them out loud, maybe using family names as a starter, when you hear it - you will know that's the right name for your son. Good Luck!

I know a (or should that be AN) Andrew John and a Andrew James.

I think that a middle name is a good chance to give a child a family name, i.e. one that runs the mother or fathers family, or one from each.

I say a middle name that starts with a J so you can call him AJ.

Or how about just the middle initial J and it can pose as Andrew Jay and call him AJ
