The louder they say it is to distance themselves form the non-approved messages their allied (but independent PACs) have produced knocking candidates. The DNC and moveon have each launched campaign against certain Republican candidates that got real ugly forcing the Democratic candidate to hold a press conference denying repsponsibility for the ad.

the federal elections laws require the statement. That way no candidate can say - I did not know that message was running. It protects the other candidates and themselves. Believe me, they feel pretty stupid saying it. When doing a radio ad, the requirement is it must be the candidate's voice either on the commercial or at the end when the "authority" line is read.

Jesi, Jesi, Jesi... this is what I'm talking about. Most of the time you give well spoken and thought-out answers but then you degenerate into useless right wing name-calling. You know very well that negative campaigning is a political norm on both sides. Its the general populations fault really. If people didn't respond so well to negative campaigns it wouldn't be the way campaigns were run.

Well, you should talk to the Democrats and the truth in advertising and campaign reforms that they have so insisted upon. Its the law so turn off the radio and TV if you don't want to hear it again this year. November 6 is coming up.

Of course, but it is now a legal requirement, so we're stuck with it until the law is changed, or Nov. 7 happens, whichever occurs first. Find the Mute button on your TV remote control.

Time to turn off the TV and read a good book. This whole political process makes one wonder if democracy truly works or is it just wishful thinking on the part of the American people.

It is the law, they have got to do that. I wish they would ban all political ads from TV and make the lazy son of guns get off of their azz and go door to door campaigning. I know that it would be against free speech to do that but at least I wouldn't have hear which ads they approve and which they don't. LOL

I'm tired of hearing ANY ad for a politician. They need to listen to US and do what WE tell them because they are OUR employees. I don't want to hear anything, I want to SEE them serving the interests of middle-class Americans who elected them in the first place and this is clearly not happening.

It holds them accountable and also allows them to cover their ***. Not every ad you see or hear is paid for by the candidate and it's very possible that they had no say in what was being said in the ad.

They have to say that.
It is actually one of the few campaign laws that control what they say in those stupid commercials.
