Well its starts with wool or cotton whatever being spun into yarn which is then dyed and woven into fabric. A pattern is then used to cut out the pieces of a garment which are then sown together - voila a piece of clothing x

Buy some pattern paper. Draw out each segment of the outfit. Cut round the pattern. Pin your fabric to the paper, and then sew the pieces together....inside out...leaving a seam allowance.

Depends how far back you want to go, but they are usually made from material.
