Very hard to say but my favourite is The Wall. An absolute work of genius; Roger Waters is one of the best songwriters - and probably the best lyric writer - this country has produced. When you listen to it it should be listened to as a whole and not as indivdual songs.

Other favourites are (obviously) Dark Side, Wish You Were Here (the title track- sheer lyrical genius and beauty), Animals and The Final Cut. Vastly underated in my opinion is the early Saucerful of Secrets which features the best and most horrific account of schizophrenia ever put to vinyl (Syd Barrett's Jugband Blues).

To be honest I love all Floyd albums with the exception of Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell, both of which were done after Roger left the band. To be honest the band were never the same after this and were a pale imitation of what came before. Roger's solo effort Amused to Death is true post Waters Floyd.

Any album before 1971 - after then, Syd's aura and presence (despite him leaving in 1968) was all gone, and the Floyd became somewhat repetitive - even over-rated from 1973 onward. Relics is good because it has a wee mixture of the first three or so years, including Arnold Layne/See Emily Play...and that sweet thing called 'Cirrus Minor', but it's a toss-up between A Saucerful Of Secrets and The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, I'm afraid!

The Wall is a masterpiece. Dark Side is great, but I think the songs on The Wall are better start to finish. "Comfortably Numb" may be the single greatest rock song ever written.
