I'm catching up with CSI Miami (reruns on A&E) and they kill Speedle off at the beginning of the 3rd season. Anyone out there remember why they picked Speed to exit the show? Did he want to leave? There must have been press at the time. I'm disappointed because he was my favorite CSI on that show...the only one that was "real" Maybe he wanted off to go on to bigger and better things. Is this where they bring in BoaVista to replace him?

He wanted to leave. He said he was tired of the same plots & endings and wanted to do something different. He had a long contract and I thought I heard he wasn't able to do TV until his the time on his contract was up. Sounded kind of harsh, but my question is why would you WANT to leave one of the hottest TV shows in America? I mean he could have built his character into something deeper had he stayed...

CSI: Las Vegas is way better than CSI: Miami. CSI: Las Vegas was the one to start it all actually after that they created, well - CSI: Miami, CSI: New York and who knows what else. Anyway but yea, CSI: Las Vegas has a cooler feeling since the actors rule, and plus the setting is the best "Whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." Hell Miami might be nice and all, but I honestly don't give a crap about that, there are girls in Las Vegas! But in your case, there are cool guys in Vegas haha.

Detective Tim "Speed" Speedle (Rory Cochrane, seasons 1-2), (Born June 24, 1973) trace evidence and impressions expert; originally from Syracuse, New York, with a degree in biology from Columbia University, Speed was killed in the line of duty in the third season premiere, Lost Son; he had not maintained his firearm diligently, and was shot by a suspect when it misfired during a police shoot-out. His character was written out at the request of Cochrane, who wanted to pursue a career in film and reportedly disliked the long, arduous shooting schedule for CSI.

In 2004, grew tired of the medical and scientific terminology frequently used on "CSI: Miami" (2002), and asked to get out of his contract. CBS agreed, and his character, Timothy Speedle, was killed off.

I saw that episode last night. I heard they had to get rid of somebody and that it was either him or Calleigh. That was so sad, though. He was one of the best characters on that show.

I read somewhere that he wanted to leave. Didn't want to be "stuck" doing that one thing. Crazy to my opinion.
