I always loved Floyd, but I grew sick of them. I got tired of Roger Waters' anti-war shtick. I recently went back and got into their very FIRST album, the one with Syd Barret. I LOVE that album. While Floyd are definitely great, I find them boring now. And nothing they have done since "The Wall" has been any good.

I was a YES guy - love that band. Also Zeppelin, which may be my #1 fave. Also Queen, Aerosmith (when they were on drugs) Genesis (before they went all funky phil pop style), Beatles (also when they were on drugs), ELP (although they only have a couple of good albums). Lately I've been into King Crimson's recent stuff, as well as their stuff from the 80s. B 52s first three albums are must haves. A few Talking Heads albums, especially "Remain in Light" are great.

Other of my faves

Paul McCartney (Wings)
Ramones
Stones
Interpol
Soundgarden
Elton John (after 1980 he sucked)
Pixies
Van Halen (only the Roth stuff)
Brand New Heavies
Nile Rogers (he's God - anything he played on or produced)
Adrian Belew
Seal
kd lang
King's X
Police
AC/DC (only with Bon Scott)
etc.

I also listen to a whole bunch of techno/dance - very interesting things they are doing with that music.

I guess there are a lot more...

Love Jack

Don't kill me for being a Stones fan, but...Pink Floyd is rock Hall-of-Fame, to be sure.I collect underground concerts on CD, and have stuff from late '67 to '88 (after Roger's departure). I'm into the "cult" of Syd as well, though findings are limited. Do a Google Search on the following:
Pink Floyd roios
-it gives you a nifty sight with lots of info on collectables, some of which I own. I live in SoCal, and there's the Pasadena (Rose Bowl & parade, etc.) City College swapmeet that runs the first Sunday of every month to about 3 p.m. It has a SEPARATE area devoted just to music-related stuff (cds, dvds, tees, posters etc.). I got the Floyd 2-cd set at the Hollywood Bowl (9-22-72) there, and others. If you can go there or search used music shops like Rhino Records, look for...
"Smoking Blues"-Montreux, Switz. 2-cd set from 1970
"Mr. Pig"-Oakland, Ca. in 1977 2 or 3 cd set
British Winter Tour in 1974-2 Cd set
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1975-2 cd set
Rome Pop Festival, May 1968 (only 3 tracks + an interview wher Roger voices his point of view that holding a pop festival in Rome is "absurd"-what a hoot!)
Try to contact fan clubs through the web that may have members willing to "trade" with you. From a computer lab in a public library basement,I hooked up with a Led Zep fan who's got connections to collectors all over the globe!
I got "Mr. Pig" from him, Rome Pop, Plumpton race track '69 and a thing from San Diego, 1971, called "new Mown Grass"-2 cd set.
It's like finding a hidden door in a hallway you've walked through for years-once you "connect" with other collectors and begin swapping, you will truly enter the TWILIGHT ZONE of rock n roll!
Start searchin', and good luck!

I used 2 feel the same.
Totally Numb is the track, awesome.
But then I found out most members of the group sponsor & support cruel sports/countryside alliance.
Now this is against my principles being a vegetarian & against fox-hunting or the killing of animals 4 so called, Sport.
UR more likely 2 hear me listening 2 Live, System of a Down, Rammstein or any1 2 take my mind of the fact I can't listen/won't buy any more Pink Floyd!
My loss, eh?

Pink Floyd is definitely in my top 5, those other 3 you mentioned are not even close to Pink Floyd. Especially Guns and Roses.

Pink Floyd is definetly better than any of the other groups you mentioned. One of my favorites, but Black Sabbath is quite good as well.

I have dark site of the moon on 8 track, cassette, albumn & CD. I don't really think you can go wrong when listening to Pink Floyd

Floyd is definitely on my top 3 list. Great lyrics, great guitar work. Just an all around brilliant band.
