No dress code exists. It is a free country and one may wear what he or she feels like. The important thing for the young generation of today is to have a better dressing sense that brings out the best in them as growing adults rather than abiding by or sticking to a dress code.

In business men wear what we call "business casual" in the west-- meaning slacks and a button-down shirt. In the work place women typically wear either traditional Indian clothes-- a salwar kameez or occasionally a sari-- or they wear a dress or a skirt & blouse. Some women in India wear slacks, but that is a bit rare from my experience.
