If you're having problems with it you should take it to a good tech and have it checked out. Firebirds, as a rule, are very good cars. Master tech 40 yrs.

What kind of problems are you having? I have had an 88 Firebird, a 93 Formula, and now I have a 2000 Trans Am WS6. None of them have given me any trouble.

Do you keep up on oil changes and the small stuff? If you do shouldn't be problems.
