Some schools are making it mandatory that ninth graders must take a financial class and learn the basics. Do you think that this is a good idea? Why or why not?

I had a check book writing class in the 7th grade. I think that's a good time frame. I also believe that students (and adults) should have a refresher course every year or so until they graduate high school.

There are way too many bankruptcies these days due to poor credit and financial mismangement. It would also give people a basic understanding and ability to better their finances and in turn, their lives.

The youngest age possible but before you do that make sure that they understand what money is and how to count to at least 10. I was taught about money at the age of 5. Yes teaching financial literacy is a good idea but the schools should not have to make some thing this important mandatory by the schools for teachers to teach it should be made a mandatory household subject by the parents/guardians/overseers of the kids. Teachers should not have to teach anyone's kids this, financial literacy must be taught by the parents.

I believe its appropriate at any age. It you are taught good financial habits at an early age you're less likely to be in debt when you're an adult. I wish I had that class when I was in the 9th grade.

Different ages for different children. It would depend on the maturity of the child.
I do believe buy the time a child reaches the 6th grade personal finance should be on the curriculum.
