Big huge bones aren't enough for you???

They share the same hip bone structure as modern birds - no other animals have this. towards the end of the age of the dinosaur, a few creatures that seem to be dino/bird cross overs existed - so it looks like they evolved into birds.

Apart from direct fossil evidece though? Well, Alligators and Crocodiles are "modern" dinosaurs - they existed alongside the extinct varieties, but we have fossils to go on for that too.

So really, there are no other theories - everything else stems from dinosaurs existing through the proof of fossils. But the variety of fossils, the changes seen in them, and looked at when the surrounding rock is dated, gives very compelling evidence.

Of course, science could be wrong. there might have been no dinosaurs, and everyone who ever believed in them will go to hell for not believing what the bible says. Maybe all the animals that exist now were all made in the beginning, and no new kinds of animal are ever created or destroyed. So the evidence from breeding dogs, horses, cows, sheep etc to cause new breeds with certain traites, no thats wrong, it just doesn't work. Obviously. because the bible does not mention anything about cross breeding, it can't exist. And the dodo, no thats hiding, its not extinct. And all those tigers, elephants, whales and pandas, they are hiding too. They are not really going to die out. because God created them, and we cannot undo Gods creation. See, it all makes sense.

Tinkerbell,

Paleontology is almost exclusively about fossils!

Is paleontology still the thing for you?

We here are only answering in the hopes that you might seek genuine answers.

If I put a fossil in your hand, or if you see a collector digging out a fossilized ammonite from mud - what do you see?

If I told you that specimens of dinosaur eggs were found - along with baby dinosaur skin fragments, what would you think of it?

If I showed you a cast of a beautifully preserved bird dinosaur fossil, covered from head to tail in intricate feathers, what would you make of it?

I saw one and I was blown away! It was distinctly reptilian, yet it was very bird-like!

And if you don't want to look at dinosaurs - what are your thoughts on sharks? Sharks exist. Ancient fossilized shark teeth also exist. I have a few at home.

Modern sharks were around since the time of the dinosaurs and have remained almost unchanged - almost. A perfect body design doesn't need to change. If you need descendants of real animals who lived at the time of T-Rex, look no further than the shark!

hello "tink"

what other evidence do you need?

fossils are the only evidence of dinosaurs existed...
footprints are also fossils called a "trace"

however palaeontology is a complex science,
the rock or "matrix" surrounding the fossils are examined to determine processes of degradation, and ecological setting. these schools are known as taphonamy, sedimentology, palaeoecology

palaeontologists look at the remains, their relative positioning, the exact layer of rock they are found in. stomach content... the list goes on... to determine that these animals did not JUST exist they lived and breathed and where part of a hugely complex mesozoic ecosystem, with many parallels between modern ecosystems

personally i have had the privilege to work with such fossils, collect in the field and in museums on REAL dinosaur material.

palaeontologists observe the evidence that is there in the ground, the then explain there findings to other palaeontologists who look at the same data to see if they agree, this is known as "peer review"

these findings are made by the people with the most knowledge on their subjects...

so again... what more evidence do you need?
if you LOOK, all the evidence is there!

trust me, Ive seen it, they did!

Evolution as a theory of origin of the extant species includes the fact that dinosaurs existed. Thus, all of the evidence that proves evolution is true also proves that dinosaurs existed. Perhaps what we know about birds is more relevant to understanding what dinosaurs were like and how the geneology is organized, but we are well beyond the point of proving that dinosaurs existed. No serious scientist should be wasting time on that. You may as well try to prove what you are having for breakfast. Sure, it may look like it's eggs, but you could be imagining things... In the final analysis, you just gotta call them eggs.

Apart from their bodies, they have found footprints, droppings, and bit marks in other fossils. These are "trace fossils".

Also bear in mind that some dinosaurs developed into the modern birds.

What more evidence does one need? And where would it come from if you could get it? If we could go back in time then maybe that would be evidence but we can't. We don't know enough about genetics to reconstruct a probable pathway from reptiles to dinosaurs (if that is where they evolved from to begin with). We have what we have and I cannot think of anything else that would we could add to that.

I don't think there can be any other evidence without some kind of recording device like Fred Flintstone's bird powered gramophone.

Have you not ever been to a museum before? The great big bones shaped back into the skeleton of a dinasour. If that isn't enough.....

I sincerely doubt that you know very much about fossils. People who know about fossils realize how strong that evidence is.

How are you on coprolite? I'll even look it up for you.
