I am 9 months (37 weeks) along with baby #3, (Yes, You'd think by now, I'd have this all down pat)..Anyway, My question is, I haven't started to lose any of my mucous plug yet ( I don't think) However, I have (for the past week) felt more of a 'slimey' feeling 'down there'.. It's so bad, That I make trips to the bathroom JUST to wipe..And sometimes, When I wipe, I get a white'ish glob of junk on the TP...Is that my mucous plug?? With my other two, It was always yellow/brown'ish....?? Any answers would be GREATLY appreciated!

Lol...I got asked if it was an infection of some sort, As of my last appointment, I am infection free, As well as Yeast infection free. :-)
I also wanted to add- With my first pregnancy (8 years ago), I lost my mucous plug about a week before I delivered, Everything was super fast and easy, Water broke at home, And 5 hours later, Baby was born, Although I did carry him a whole 42 weeks, With my 2nd boy, Again, I carried him a total of 42 weeks, And the day I went in to be induced, I actually started labor on my own, And while they had me walking the halls, I lost my mucous plug...
Too bad every pregnancy can't be about the same Lol....
Thanks for all the answers I've recieved as of yet!!!!

I had the same thing with my third. I would literally have to get up from whatever I was doing just to wipe. Really gross. Anyway, yes, it is your mucus plug, and, from what I understand, you continue to make the mucus until you deliver. I had it for the last few weeks. Good luck!

Congrats with your 3rd Baby!
I didn't lose my mucus plug with my first baby untill I was examined by the midwife when I was having contractions. After that every time I went to the loo I'd look down into my knickers & there would be another glob!!!
Every pregnacy is different & you need not call your midwife if you think you have had a show, but having unprotected sex can cause infection so don't risk it!
Good luck & remember if you are worried then speak with your doctor or mdwife.

I have only had one child ( 8 month old daughter!) but that is what happened when I started to lose my mucous plug! I started a few days before my last doctor visit before I was induced (overdue). When I started it was white, but after the doctor examined me and checked my cervix, it came out brown and pink streaked which she said would happen from all the poking around she did! Ouch! Anyway, totally normal. I made quite a few bathroom trips as you have been doing myself before I was induced. Too bad my labor didn't start by the time the doctor wanted it to! I hope you have a pleasant labor/delivery (as pleasant as it can be, anyway)! Good luck!

When i had my second almost a year and a half ago, I wondered the same thing. I even went to the hospital, convinced i was going into labor, but they just sent me home. However, a friend of mine lost her plug, went to the hospital and delivered 9 hrs later. So unfortunately it is like all other preg questions and the answer is: It differs from girl to girl and pregnancy to pregnancy. Tell your doctor about it, in detail, and let him decide if you are losing your plug or just getting ready to.

I asked my mom, as she has had 7 babies. She said she never lost her mucous plugs until she went into labor. She also said it is normal to have a nasty discharge the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. She said if you are concerned you should talk to your doctor. I am also pregnant and I ask my mom lots of questions. Congrats to you and I hope everything is ok with you and your baby.

It sounds to me more like increased cervical mucous then anything. I only lost my plug with one out of 3 of my pregnancies. It was more of a pinkish/white in color and a big glob of it.
If it is an actual white glob, it could be a sign of a bacterial infection. which is no big deal, they just give you pills for it. If you are concerned, I would speak with your OB about it.

I'm 38wks pregnant and I'm having the same discharge. I asked my Dr. if it was the mucous plug and she said it was just normal discharge that the vagina was cleaning itself out and preparing for delivery. It feels gross lol but its almost over hang in there and best of luck :)

I heard it's possible to loose your mucus plug like that. I'm not sure about the coloring. I lost mine when I was in the L&D for and induction. Just call the dr or nurse to see if you need to do anything. I don't think it matters unless you're having contractions or your water breaks. Good luck and Congrats!!

I had the same thing on my 3rd baby. I seems to take longer for everything on baby #3. I never had a brownish or yellow tint to the slime on my 3rd till hours before i went in to full labor. My 2nd child was a breeze but my 3rd was very painful before and after birth. I was one to bug my Dr. and he said its very normal.
