Try one of these,

http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/filerecovery.html
http://www.recovermyfiles.com/
http://www.quetek.com/

The first one is freeware, the other two are commercial.

Good Luck.

Roll your computer back to a restore point prior to deleting the photos. Hopefully you make restore points on a regular basis.

But yes, what you were told is correct, nothing is ever totally deleted right away. The Registry holds everything you just don't see it.

How it works behind windows is, Dos changes the first letter of the file name to a ? which tell the computer that it may re-use that portion of the disk again if it needs to save over.

If you delete things eventually that place on your hard drive will be used again to save something else, but it doesn't happen right away. If you just did this recently, its still most likely there.

But Restore turns back your computer to exactly what it was when the backup was created like nothing had happened. You get everything back.

Thats why creating a backup point before loading new programs is a good idea, if something goes wrong you only need to restore and its fixed.

It works with your pictures too.

Good Luck!

Get the system mechanic 6 trial(30 days) and see if you can use the data recovery feature. It's easy to use because you can specify you are looking for pictures that were deleted. It might take a few minutes to find that specific function, but at the same time you will have a pretty comprehensive program in your hands that does all sorts of useful things. If you're going to pay for anything here, this will give you a big bang for your buck.

usually when you delete a file the file is still on your hard drive with the first letter of the file is removed recovery software picks up these files and tells you what kind of shape there in. if you know what the first letter is you'll probably be able to get them back go to softpedia.com and look for a free file recovery program.

There is a way to do it, but you'd have to bring it to a computer technician and it is very costly.
