If you like New Orleans Jazz, i recommend Harry Connick jr, Peter Cincotti and Michael Bublé. You can get extracts on amazon or fnac.com or on their fan websites

Depending on how much money you want to spend and how much power you need:

If some money then ProTools LE is an economical and straight-forward (but also very powerful) recording software package. (www.digidesign.com)

Adobe Audition is also very good and costs a lot less. (Formerly known as Cool Edit.)

And if no money at all... Audacity, I suppose, although if you want to be happier in life I suggest getting something better.

KRISTAL Audio Engine. It's free and it doesn't take up much space on your hard drive. It works pretty similar to Cubase, and for demo recordings Kristal, a good mic and maybe a mic preamp is all you need.

I agree with Jerycho - if you're looking for something for free look into Audacity.
