pretense that the general's are controling the war. If the Dems gained power would THEY let the generals run the war? I have a bad feeling that the worst is yet to come. This is kinda fun though, what do ya think?

Television footage of G.W. telling the press that we have to stay the course.
Footage of the generals explaining why the presidential strategy is wrong,
Footage of G.W. saying that his hands are tied, the generals make the policy.
But the policy is 'stay the course'.
Just go round and round in your head with that for a while.

Well I bet the genrals are running the war since no one else seems to be... but someone needs to give them more direction so they can accomplish some sort of mission... surely the old mission plan has to be revised.

What exactly are you talking about? The President is in charge of the overall foreign policy and in setting the goals and general policies for the US in Iraq. The SoD and the military is responsible for taking the actions for implementing those policies. It really doesn't work when a president is micromanaging the military - it has always caused problems.

Perhaps you can provide some context for your question? (By this, I mean context beyond the typical "Bush is a dum-dum doody-head")

OK, thanks.
-Stay the course. This means the overall goals and policy has not changed. It also means he is not going to run away just because poll data indicates it is not a popular war.
-Please note that is SOME RETIRED generals. Not all. Not active. There are generals who support his policies and goals.
-I doubt Bush said that the generals make the policy. That's obviously out of context. Never trust a sound byte.

What you see is what you get! There is nothing to "see through". President Bush is about as honest and straight-forward as they come! The generals are on the ground where the rubber hits the road. I don't doubt for a minute President Bush is shoulder to shoulder with them. I have a bad feeling that people with your attitude have created a heavier burden for the man that someday will be called the greatest President that ever lived.

The worse is yet to come. Bush is the one that is standing up and doing some thing. It may not always be right but it is better than nothing. We have been in a war that will not end with Iraq nor did it start in Iraq.

Read some book on it
