Is this actualy needed? I am not talking about the immediate economic impacts, I mean the long term ones.
I admit, marriage adds stability to a family, a nest egg. but say marriage never existed, I believe that there would have been established other means of stability, because a family is a family, and some sort of family institution is unavoidable.
With that idea, I want to find out your opinion, what ways is marriage a deterent to economic growth, and what ways does it encourage it, and your opionion as a whole.
I want you to stretch your minds, give me the most comprehensive answer possible, simple, not complicated, and please dont try to be sassy with me, this is a quality question, I want quality in return.

A serious legal interest in marriage didn't start until Bismark started a campaign to remove Papal loyalty from Germany. So at that time the benefit to regulate and control marriage for the state was of the utmost importance politically more so than economically. However, economic benefits are obvious. Married heterosexual couples inevitably produce children who will become the nations workers and leaders in the future, any married couple who lives together takes up less space than two people living seperated - an important thing for crowded countries like Japan and Netherlands. The institution of marriage encourages psychological stability in the workforce which in turn causes more productive concentrating workers. When a married couple has one spouse stay home, the working spouse is rewarded to work harder and smarter because they know they have to support not just themself, but their spouse and possibly children. All these things benefits a nations economy because inspired enthusiastic workers are the most productive and innovative.

Legal marriage encourages economic growth to the extent that it is more efficient than the alternative. If 2 people live together, they occupy less space and therefore conserve scarce resources for other purposes, etc.
