We have a ceiling fan with three light sockets attached. ONE of those sockets seems to burn out bulbs early. Filament bulbs last a few weeks, CFL bulbs have even shorted out! What is going on???
The other two sockets are fine. Those bulbs never burn out.

The offending lamp-holder requires replacing.

The contacts inside will be burnt or corroded, thus not making a good electrical connection, hence lamps in this fitting will have a shorter life span.

re-fit the fan with a single lamp fitting, multy lamp fittings have been a pain in the electrians backside ever since they stopped using candels & even then there would be one candel `burn-out` before the others, bugger eh !! use a licenced electrical contractor,it`ll be worth it ,!! Look for alternate lighting ideas, low voltage down-lights,wall mounted same, have a think of what your lighting needs are,I`m just an old leco still with a desire to have people happy with their power/lighting needs

You may need to replace the whole thing.

CROSSED WIRE WOULD BE INSTANTANEOUS BULB FAILURE, TRY APPLIANCE BULBS ( HEAVIER BULB FILAMENT
CAN WITHSTAND MORE JIGGLING)
