13x^4 - 7x^3 - 15x^2+4x+18

I would expect the 6x^2 to go exactly into the 13x^4 for starters.

Maybe you have posted the problem wrong???

13x^4-7x^3-15x^2+4x+18 / 6x^2 -5

= -5x^10 +18 / 6x^2 -5
= -5x^8 +18 / 6-5
= -5x^ +18

(13 x13 x13 x13) - (7X7x7) - (15 x 15) +4x + 18 div by (6x6) - 5

First off do all the math in the parenthesis to get the real values, then take the (6x6)-5 multiply both parts of the problem so the is eliminated and then divide the remaining top part by x to eliminate it from the one side and you'll have just number left and come down to a number = X
