For those of you who only noticed the torture part, this bill also made it possible to hold US citizens without Writ of Habeous Corpus. No bill since the Alien and Sedition Act has negatively impacted the constitutional rights we were guaranteed this much.

I don't know what bothers me more. The fact that he signed it or the fact that so many people seem to not give a damn.
Interrogating terrorists is one thing but there is nothing in this bill that prevents the president from naming any American citizen an enemy combatant and locking them up indefinitely with no legal recourse.

Have we ever had anyone in office that so resembles a dictator? I am so disgusted. How could this happen in America? They call themselves Republicans but they are without a doubt in your face fascist. Torture is good? No representation is good? hearsay is good? How in the hell will any of these people get a fair trial? Why have a trial is it because we are hypocrites? Why not just execute them on the lawn of the White House? This is the sort of thing that happens when you have people who no longer are concerned with human rights, civil liberties and due process...We now spy on law abiding American citizens have secret prisons and believe in torture..We have come a long way over two hundred years we have stood for these liberties and in 6 short years Bush has changed our entire ideals. Perhaps one day he too can stand before the same kind of court and be tried for his crimes.

It was a sad day for America. Not only did Bush authorize torture and the right the of President to imprison anyone he wants to for as long as he wants to without interference of the judicial branch of government, he thought he could use the signing of the bill to get votes. He thinks our American values have been reduced to the point that Americas approve leaders who support terror and abuse more than they cherish the liberties and freedom given to them by the Constitution. Yes, a sad day indeed for America.

I am aware and concerned. However, I am hopeful that when the Republicans lose power (and they will) this will be overturned and we can all escape from the police state that the current administration is trying to form in the land of the free and the brave.

I am all for a little "rough" treatment for terrorists. If we can extract info from these people who want to wipe us out, I say go for it. These people are not U.S. citizens. They do not have the same rights U.S. citizens have, nor should they. I think we should draw the line at some point though. I would under no circumstances force anyone to have to listen to John Kerry speak. That is inhumane.

Oh yeah. Fook the Geneva Convention, up with torture, away with due process and probable cause. When the president places himself above the law, my friends, we are living in a dictatorship.

I do ... a further erosion of due process.

I am concerned with EVERY bill the Bush signs. He is a fanatical right wing extremist.

Fortunately, most Republicans are now shying away from him, too.

I'm aware and very concerned....
I'm surprised there isn't more of an uproar. The American people need to wake up before our country becomes a full on dictatorship.
