I have a really simple Question. In order to buy on ebay through paypal. Do I have to have an available balance of money on paypal even if I added a credit card, or Paypal would charge me after I buy an item on ebay?

No you dont need an available balance, The money you spend will just be taken from your credit card at the time of purchase.

There are two ways to do it. You can keep an account balance in Paypal or you can just have them charge you when you buy something. The idea is that if you both buy and sell on the net, you can create a paypal balance by selling things and then can used that money to buy things. But, that's not required, as long as you have a verified credit card, you can buy things with Paypal and you'll get a charge on your credit card called something like "Paypal".

Example: if you have $5 in PP, and you eBay item costs $20, PP will charge your card $15. If $0 in PP, all goes to the card. When you're completing the purchase,it does it all by itself if you've added a card to PP.

Make sure that you check your preferences in PP to see where they're going to pull it from. Some get burned on their Bank Account.

Also, any money you put into PayPal can earn +5% in a no min balance money market, plus they'llsend you a debit card that pays 1% cash back... not a bad deal!

When you go to pay for the item, PayPal will automatically select your primary bank account for the remaining balance owing. There is a link right next to it to allow you to change that to another bank account or a credit card.

First they make a $1 charge on your credit card to make sure it is active (you get it back) Then if you make a purchase they will charge your credit card. At least that is how it works for me.

PayPal will debit your credit card, bank account or debit card. It depends how you set it up.
