It depends on how corrupted your computer is. If it's a matter of it being slow or pop-ups, then run your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs several times. If it's a matter of the entire operating system not functioning properly, you should probably reformat the computer.

However, if the actual hardware in your computer is no longer working, or is causing your computer to not run well, then it's a hardware issue, and reformatting will not help. You will have to replace the hardware that doesn't work.

It really all depends on what you mean by "corrupted." Software problems can easily be fixed by a reformat (Like problems within the operating system). Hardware problems can only be fixed if you replace the parts that aren't working.

If you mean a corrupted hard drive, you can try to do a repair on the OS by using the recovery/installation CD, or you just reformat the entire drive and do a fresh install.

put the disc in the drive, before boot up, you will see a message usually at the top of the screen that says "press any key to boot from CD" this will start the installation wizard and you will have the option to choose repair, or you can delete the entire partition on the existing drive/install and start from scratch. Take care if you choose the second option this will completely scrub your drive, you will loose all your data that is not backed up and you will need to reinstall most of your system's drivers, so make sure you have a disc with your drivers, or that you know how to obtain them.

You don't.....Take it somewhere.

You can try booting in safe mode and running antivirus, or booting up with the original windows disk and select "repair install". This might do it.
