i paid 500 bucs for this computer and im new to all this . win i turn it on it says"enter password " i dont know wa it is . did i git took or can i still use this lap top.where do i go from here

Since you're completely new at this, I think you should ask someone to reinstall the system. You will need to have the CD that came with it or a Windows installation CD to do that.

Typically when people ask this question it means someone sold them a stolen laptop. If he gave you a restore CD or the Windows XP CD then you can insert that and use it to reset the password. If it's stolen and you have no Windows CD, then your only choice is to completely reinstall the operating system.
I would recommend finding a friend who already has a Windows CD. You can use that to install. When it asks for the CD key you can just use the one on your Windows label which usually sits on the bottom of the laptop. Once you have reinstalled Windows you can create your own restore CD.
