In the near future, yes. But hopefully Americans will wake up and remember how far our constitution has taken us and decide that we should adhere to it once again.

There are some issues to guage right here: (a million) The Republicans and their acquaintances, The Tea-Publicans are universally recognized by technique of the country because the dangle up on the debt ceiling reduce and if the country defaults, they'll shoulder the blame for his or her absolute refusal to compromise on something. (2) The Republican agenda has been presented publicly, more advantageous than once, as in basic terms "making particular that Obama Is A One time period President).it truly is their total concentration and previous that suggested purpose, they have no longer something to furnish almost about governing the country. (3) The Ryan Plan has been rejected out of hand as unreasonable and unworkable. (4) The Republicans opt to diminish or get rid of entitlements that help an fairly lot of persons yet they nevertheless opt to furnish their wealthy acquaintances and the organizations significant tax breaks and incentives--on the backs of the middle type and The poor and The elderly--and it is unconscionable and unacceptable to all u . s . a . of america. (5) maximum of what's being suggested on your remark isn't something more advantageous than parroted from speaking factors from the right Wing and shows little or no if any "Originalist" idea.

Yes. I've been hearing that people who write to their elected representatives criticizing the Bush administration are finding themselves on 'no-fly' lists, and being detained at airports. Anti-Bush activists are being arrested for demonstrating, or just being present at political rallies. I'm betting such incidents are just the tip of the iceberg... I tell myself I'm getting a bit paranoid, this is America!-- but I still hold my breath when I have to get on a plane.

This country's 'pillars of freedom' are disintegrating. The right to individual liberty in the form of free speech and freedom of ideas and expression is rapidly becoming the next casualty, following hard on the heels of justice and law.

It's getting there. I run my mouth alot on sites like myspace, Y! Answers, e.t.c. Just to see if i can get some Secret Service fu ck stick knocking on my door... Hasnt happened yet, but i wait in hope.

I was sent an email from my brother in China. A girl 13-15 years old threatened Bush's life on Myspace and was questioned without a family member or a lawyer present. The girl even said they acted so harsh towards her to figure out the plan that she couldnt help crying her eyes out.

It's sad when there are youth younger than 16 years old wanting to assinate Bush. Wouldnt that put a daffle in these neocons heads.

Edit: she was 14... This is the only site i can find anything about it. Some neocon site... So of course they had to run their mouths.

It's inevitable. The more the national gov't consolidates power away from the state and local level, the more personal freedoms will be taken away. In order to maintain control over so many people over such a wide area from a central point, a gov't has to put limits on what it allows its citizens to do and say.

When your government starts listening when its own people bad-mouth it, we all have a problem. A real democracy should have thicker skin than that. Watch your back...

Given how the lemmings that call themselves US citizens react to any news about osama bin laden or terrorism in general it amazes me that we have a country at all, the truth is that we do have freedom of speech and expression and the government is NOT the biggest threat to freedom of speech in this country NOR is terrorism it is our willingness to align ourselves with what our corporation that we work for tells us to think or preferred opinions of our peers people don't speak what is on their minds anymore for fear of not being "politically correct" some phrases, words, or patterns of thought cannot be expressed now for fear of the very real threat of reprisal

Yes, with the military act signed into law yesterday anybody can be deemed an enemy combatant and taken to a secret prison and tortured. It is not a far stretch to inprison anybody that disagrees with the political views of those that are in charge. Yes people this is in America, not Russia or China, but right here in America.

Your warning is too late. Where were you with the morons passed the McCain Fiengold encumbent protection act. Which is a limit of not only free speech but specifically political speech.

Strong possibility. Politically correctness is just one more step toward speech and idea expression restrictions.

Right to free speech already quite limited. Many people who have criticized this president have been censured.
