premature is before 37 weeks and post-mature is after 42 weeks
a pregnancy that lasts 37-42 weeks is normal
http://www.webmd.com/hw/health_guide_atoz/hw221327.asp?printing=true
"Traditionally (according to Naegele's rule, which is used to calculate the estimated date of delivery, or EDD), a human pregnancy is considered to last approximately 40 weeks (280 days) from the last menstrual period (LMP), or 37 weeks (259 days) from the date of fertilization. However, a pregnancy is considered to have reached term between 37 and 43 weeks from the beginning of the last menstruation. Babies born before the 37 week mark are considered premature, while babies born after the 43 week mark are considered postmature."

Hi, i'm going to college to be a OB-GYN and I can sort of answer your questoin..give you an estimate. Your pregnant for about 39-40 weeks. So if you have your baby earlier then a month or so it's going to be considered a little premature. Anything earlier then a month and a half is pretty badly premature. Just be careful. You can personally email me at jks_princess1991@yahoo.com bye

Anywhere from 36 to 40 weeks is full term, if you give bith at 35 weeks 6 days it is still preterm, exactly 36 weeks and full term.

I'm pretty sure it is anytime before 36 weeks (8 months) is considered premature. 40 weeks is the "normal" gestation period for babies. But don't worry. I know several women who have had premature babies, all of whom are happy and healthy babies. I hope this helps!
