Alimony is spousal support...if a man or a woman works outside of the home while married but their spouse does not it is possible that the judge will order spousal support, especially if the spouse was unable to work because they were taking care of children. This is a law that is in effect for men and women, but it usually is the man who pays because he is usually the one who works outside of the home.

Alimoney is kind of like child support. The only difference is the
spouse has to pay it to the other spouse after they are divorced. The reason a judge might order Alimoney is if one person make a lot more money than the other one.

Alimony if you notice the rrot word is "money". That means that the woman (typically) will recieve additional money (in addition to child support) for a certain period of time or indefinately. This can be listed as "recupterive" to allow the spouse to get back on her feet financially or forever depending upon the age of the woman and the length of the marriage. This is also dependant on the state which the divorce occurs.
Hope that this helps.

Alimony is also known as spousal support, it is like child support paid to the parent who stayed at home to raise the children. Alimony, if ordered, is paid by the parent who worked outside the home to the parent who did not until the children are adults.
