IIRC, the YZ125 doesn't have separate gearbox and crankcase oil. If that is, indeed, correct, you should be good with 10W40 or similar. If you're planning on running in really cold temps, try 5W20, or really hot, 15W40. It shouldn't really matter too much if you're changing oil as much as you should.
Refer to the OM for the oil change intervals, but I probably wouldn't want to go too much more than 2 rides, or 5-10 hours, before changing out the oil.

What the book says. 10w30 will protect better now days than 50w twenty years ago, and flows through tight spaces much better. I've used Mobile1 for forty years and never lost an engine.

Typically, on a bike that small, it's 10w30 or 10w40.
