I tend to agree that WWII has the most information written about it. It is more "modern" and a lot of people were willing to share their experiences. If you have to have references in your paper go for interviews because older people just love to talk about what happened. Vietnam was extremely controversial and there is a lot written on that too, not to mention some great pictures that were taken. Just remember the best research papers have lots of different sources to them. Don't just pull stuff out of the encyclopedia or from one textbook.

You'll find more than enough info for a million papers on any 'history' I'm sure, but there is indeed a lot written about World War 2, in part because of the existence of mass media to document that war.

Do you want a specific war? WW2 or Vietnam have tons of history written about them. You probably want to stick with something 1945 or better as that is when the media really started getting involved with historical events as they happened...and therefore there will be more documentation about the event. Why not do a bit of research and do something a bit more obscure... if you do something with more details - you are going to have to wade through more information to find items that will be good for a comprehensive, yet not-to-long paper!!

Fall and Decline of The Roman Empire. Gibbons is a good one. WWII has some neato information.I like McAurthers Membrances. Some Japanes submarines were located recently, that was wierd. America has a rich history. But the best History of all time has to be just that, all of time passed. The complete version, unedited.

yes, WWII would fall into that category, but i found the most enjoyable research work was on subjects that were hard to find documentation on. WWII is a very broad topic and you would have to focus on one aspect, i would imagine, and how would you choose? i liked doing ancient history, where at times, there is very little to go on. i have to say my best and most favorite papers were william the conqueror and mao and how the long march solidified his rise to power.
use the stacks in the library. fun stuff!
i always had fun doing research! good luck!

African history. Think of the start of civilization, the Renaissance, colonization, revolutions, and many more. It is still in the making and not yet over.
