I am wanting to change the grout color from white to a darker tone

I would probably go with a grout re-colorant. You can find the product at Lowe's and it actually works really well. Just get a kids toothbrush, apply the product to the grout, let dry for 15 minutes and then wipe off anything that got on the tile with a wet sponge and re-seal. Goto Home Depot, in the tile section they have grout colorant. The particular Home Depot in my area carries the colorant made by Custom building products in Seal Beach, CA. I have done this to my tile floors in my home. It is time consuming painting the grouted areas but well worth it after... I did mine about 2 years ago and have not had to touch them up since. I went from a mauve colored grout to delorean grey

the box stores have a grout dye color kit. have fun and be careful you dye it all even or youll have to rip out all yopur grout and regrout. good luck
