The answer is quite simple really. Once more then 3000 troops give their lives in the name of this unpopular and completely politizied war, someone is going to wake and realize that we have lost more Americans "avenging" 9/11 then had died on 9/11.
This begins to look a tad bit suspect in the eyes of the observer. Should the people begin to become disatisfied with a system of government that makes sure your voice will not be heard, you have on your hands a revolution.
The Democrats are all but dead. The last thing the republicans want is to realize their greatest dream on the eve of their worst nightmare.
