how will the removal effect the ecosystem

The ecosytem is self-balancing. If a species becomes extinct it is because the balance of the ecosystem is shifting and there is no longer a place for that species. So, the answer is that extinction doesn't affect the ecosystem is is an effect of the ecosystem.

Depends on the creature. If one is removed, it could effect the food chain greatly, or just a small amount or not at all. If spiders become extinct, there will probably be a moderate change in the ecosystem.
