I doubt Folet was molested.
It's a sad excuse for her perverted actions.

I totally agree. If you did it, just admit it. Mark Foley should just go ahead and take full responsibility for his activities. It shouldn't matter whether or not he was molested as a child. What matters is that he should know right from wrong. Whats even more appauling is the fact that other government officials new of Foley's dealing, but never said anything because of the effect the news would have on his family. Ridiculous.

It's Irrelevant why he did what he did. If he's looking for pity because he was a victim it's wasted effort. He gives our government a bad name. He gives Homosexuals a bad name. We want him punished.
I guess the difference between between Stubbs and Foley is that there are some people on Y!A who were alive when the Foley scandall was a current event. That an Foley allegedly violated a federal law that he helped write.

I think no matter what someone experiences as a child, once a person is an adult he is responsible for the choices he makes.
Hopefully, Foley isn't trying to supply this as an excuse (because there is none), but rather as an explanation.
And, really, it kind of makes an object lesson of the work that he was apparently using as a cover: laying the smackdown on offenders to try to prevent another generation of offenders (today's victims = tomorrow's offenders).

In the past few weeks, conservatives have blamed alcoholism for anti-semitism (Mel Gibson) and pediphilia (Mark Foley). And then Mark Foley adds that he was molested onto it.
Funny cause when I get drunk I dance like a moron, tell my friends how much I LOOOOVE them and wake up with a hangover.

Typical for a Republican!
They blame everyone else but themselves! For those of you on here who question the compassion of the person who asked this question, how much compassion would you have, if it were your Kids on the receiving end of Mark Foley's pedophilia?
If Foley was abused when he was a kid, he should have spoke up then. There is NO EXCUSE for what he did...PERIOD!

Obviously you will never be elected to high office with your lack of empathy. You actually seem to be concerned about the victims. What folly. The victims pain is always less then the congressman's or senators because they don't have as much to lose or they are not as important. You seem to be unconcerned about the unproven molestation of Foley, his supposed alcholism or the pressures the man must have been under as he concealed his homosexuality from,.. well there must of been someone who didn't know about it. Caring about the victim is no way to get into the higher elected office or remain there.

Sounds about par for the course. Far be it from republicans to actually take responsibility. They are only good at saying they will take responsibility.

I think that if Foley were a liberal, he would be painted as a "victim" and the liberals would LOVE jumping in and criticizing CATHOLIC PRIESTS. But since he's a Republican, he's just nothing but scum. It's a double standard, I tell ya'.
Where's the ACLU when you need 'em?
