I am a Primary Teacher and am making a news programme for drama with my class. In the news programme we will ask how different cultures celebrate xmas. I need to know (from genuine Australians preferably) how you/your family celebrate Christmas in Oz. Is it a turkey thing or a throw another shrimp on the barbie affair? If you could say whereabouts you're from that would be great. Some different ideas would be great, obviously you don't all do the same thing.

Thanks so much.

I have celebrated Christmas twice in Australia with family and they celebrate it just like here at home. Turkey, ham, veg Christmas crackers Christmas tree, santa etc. The only difference is they have dinner outside by the pool if its not to hot :) Wish I was going there this year again. Some do celebrate on the beach with barbies.

My auntie and cousins have the whole traditional turkey diner outside in the garden with a lovely dressed table just like we do here, in the afternoon they all do down the beach for a BBQ and watch the sun set over the ocean, what a dream, wish I could be there at Christmas with them instead of waiting until Easter.

nevertheless it quite is, as others have talked approximately, the comparable day, i can't think of somebody slaving over a warm oven making waiting a nicely-known meal, yet, those from down under say they do! in basic terms different concept, know why they start up 10 hours earlier? So Father Christmas could have time to make it lower back to northern climates in the past the noon solar provides him a bout of heat prostration! "Chuck, that Cheeky Lad"
