I just seem to keep moving things round, and cleaning round and under things. It always looks untidy, any ideas?

Several.

1)Get rid of the things you don't want or need. Some people find it useful to bring three large containers with them labelled "Keep", "Maybe", and "Get Rid Of". Using these containers, go through your house one room at a time and sort out the stuff in it. If an item is broken or hasn't been used in a very long time, get rid of it: Chances are good you won't miss it. You can either throw out the 'Get Rid Of' items or give them to Goodwill or a similar organization. The "Maybe" items should be stored until you can decide what you want to do.

2) Now that you have your clutter cut, decide where you want to keep things. And keep them there when you're not using them.

3)This is something I heard, and I think it's a good idea: For every new item you bring into the house, take something out. That way the clutter won't build back up again.

Good luck!

Get rid of anything you don't need before you try to organize it. Your space is at a premium so only keep premium things. You absolutely love it and can't live without it. THen once you've pared things down to a manageable size, you must have a place for everything and everything in it's place. Truly a space for everything. If you haven't moved yet you can draw it up on paper and then think about using every inch of space as "double duty" Don't just have a end table but an end table w/ storage in it. Think about your holiday stuff and where you will keep everything you own. You may want to actually make an inventory of everything you own. If it's not worth writing on the list it's not worth organizing.

It can be overwhelming, can't it? What I do is try to break it all down so I don't feel so overwhelmed. I tackle one room in the house per month. In that room, I take everything down and wash under it - give it a thorough clean and organization. Once you've finished all the rooms, keep up the schedule and go back and do it again - this way you stay on top of it, you don't feel pressure and as things are organized, you'll get done alot faster!

Well get a filing cabinet and put all your important papers in there using files from Staples or some other place. for your linen closet get little rubbermaid containers with out lids and put in things like all your deodorants, soaps, tooth paste, tooth brushes and other toiltetries in each separate container. Put your sheets and blankets in those space bags and store. Use under the bed boxes for things. get rid of things you don't need or use to the goodwill. Clean out fridge every week, toss empty boxes don't keep them around the house. Put things back as soon as your finished using them. mark appointments and things to do on your calendar. make a grocery list of just what you need and no more. Sweep the house once or twice a week. I'm very organized and I have a place for everything and everything in it's place. I do laundry on monday, grocery shopping on tuesday, library on wednesday, cut coupons for grocerys from the paper on thursday, tie up loose ends on Friday, saturday light housework, Sunday make out a list of things I need to do for the following week. i never procrastinate, and everything always gets done.

Bins and tubs, especially those that can go under the bed and those that are stackable. Sorting and organizing is key. If it is something that you keep moving, but don't really use, bite your lip and get rid of it (have a garage sale, donate it to charity, etc).

Shelving is another way to tidy up, get trinkets and memorabilia off the floor, counter, etc. and up on some shelves. There are a lot of options out there.

Decide what you need to use daily and find an area for them.
Separate that which you like to see around you and separate them.
Locate that which you use often, but not everyday, and store them.
With these three areas of separation you should be able live an orderly life, and there is no reason why it should not look homely.

if your problem is in the living room get a big coffee table or large lamp tables with doors in them for storage like magazines, toys etc. These are great hideaway things but easy to get to when needed. I also like for short notice guests. quick through things like that in there and your house is neat and tidy when they come. You can always get them out after they leave.

have a place for everything and everything in its place and be very strict with your self and hang up your clothes always even if you are putting them back on later, for everything else that you do not need or use, bag up and either give them to a charity shop or take them to a car boot sale and turn them into cash.

Have a major clear out and throw away or give to charity anything you don't use or wear now.
