To feel more secure, by habbit, maybe they're just afraid...

Some people are scared to move on, so they stay in a relationship that's familiar. Even if that relationship is not working, it's all they know, so they settle instead of being alone or moving on to something better. Fear of the unknown is a very powerful thing.

I have been there before, and its usually because of the children. If that is the case, then I advise that anyone don't stay in a relationship, if you have exhausted family, or husband/wife, counseling of some sort and there is absolutely no chance of making it work!! Its just not good to live in a unhappy situations. It can make a person very sick. It did me, for example. I had a nervous breakdown....which most guys wouldn't, but women are different. My marriage was like living on a rollercoster. Up one minute down the next. It went on for about a year to two years with him constantly tearing me down with his words. My self image went down, more down, till it started making me sick all the time. My work, started getting effected and I got fired for absenteeism. Finally after living like that for 5 years, it got me in trouble. I collapsed in the arms of my dad.....and I got some counseling of my own, plus an anti-depressant. It just isn't worth your health.

Many different reasons, sometimes it’s money it cost to have a divorce sometimes more then a wedding. Also some stay together for their Childs benefit. If both come to an agreement of what they want to do and it’s understood and agreed upon then it’s not a bad thing always.

for a lot of people it is codependency. you just get used to being with someone. it becomes easy, u know how to deal with them. Its like a state of comfort, even though you don't like it,it seems easier than starting all over. and some people are in denial that the relationship is not working.

All the time and emotion inc=vested and it hurts to admit it ended in failure. Maybe for the sake of children, because one is dependant on the other, because theyre ashamed to be known for dicourcing. Im sure theres many reasons.

They shouldn't

I've just split with someone I will always love, but we just stopped getting on together.

Better to stop being partners now, and hopefully get to a stage where we can be friends in the future, than stick together gradually making each other more unhappy.

A lot of reasons including but not limited to : fear of starting over, financial reasons, it's hard to live alone and have no one to help pay the bills, fear of not ever finding anyone again, fear of being "out there" on your own...................

good question... maybe to try to change each other, or they stay out of comfortability with each other. Usually these relationships are timebombs ready to explode.
