It is more than useful, Vassia. It is imperative! The study of art facilitates the learning of science, maths, social studies, history, literature, and any other field of study you can name. Art opens up worlds for the student. Art developes the senses (all of them) with which one takes in one's universe. Life without art is barely existence. Long live art!

yes art is very useful and is used for many types of therapy. It also records history. It also has given us valuable information about our past if the cavemen did not do some art on the wall how would we know what is what also the Egyptians.
Art was early stages of communication and without art would we be able to write think about that one.
It is also the freedom to express one self. A picture draw or painted can tell you a lot about the persons state of mind and what is troubling them so just for that alone yes it is useful.

Art is very useful for loads of reasons.
Creativity stimulates the mind. It attracts both criticism and praise. People who engage in art do so for all sorts of reasons. Self-esteem can emulate from someone who puts pen or paint to paper. They don't have to be an exhibitionist, nor does all their work have to be hung in the Tate Gallery. Art is pleasure. It is emotionally expressive, fulfilling and reflective.
Architecture has arisen from the canvas so to has many sculptures. One inspires the other. We would not be where we are today if it wasn't for someone depicting a hand-print on a cave wall. Its history, its image creating paths along the way.
Artists, no matter what the work or medium used, can inspire, portray moods and lead to outstanding phases in Human Culture. Art can be kept as a reminder to Human thinking in by-gone years, creating historical facts in, colour, mood or just wordless pictures. From cave paintings to Modern art, these great , or not so great give rise to Human development.

Some art can be useful, Some art can be purposive, Some art can be aesthetic. Some art can have multiple functions and meanings. Some art can be transitory, some contectual. Are you starting to get my drift? Overall, I think we can say, however, that art is necessary.

Of course it's useful making it can help you relax and get feelings out in the open, and if there was no art what would psychiatrists use on the cards they hold up and ask you "what do you see?"

Thats kind of like asking if music is useful. Every person has different tastes in all aspects of life and art is one way of expressing how you feel, celebrating what you feel is beautiful about life. Of course it can be used to depict what you think is wrong with life too, in all its misery. Its also a way of capturing moments in a very personal way.

Yes, I think it is, because it enables human beings to express themselves. Furthermore, I believe that when you see a beautiful piece of art, it makes you think about the meaning of people and things in your life.

yes-

it records history- e.g- cave paintings- the bayeux tapestry, african tribal masks,

it can record details- war artists, portraits, botanical and human anatomy

it provides a form of self expression- monet etc and society of the time- e.g abstract art came about because the artists did not want to use political messages in their art.

it questions representation and how we view life- picasso's cubism- what do we actually see?

It signifies things- signs and advertising. Look at the play station shapes- if i see them i know it is the playstation etc. i don't need words.
