Local experience has to start sometime and somewhere. Send out your well prepared resume to the companies you seek employment from. Make sure its written in proper English, as well as using clear English in speaking when you visit companies to apply for work. You have to emphasize your skills or prove they're as good as any 'locals'.

You can post your resume online at Monster.com and jobsearch.org for jobs there and your local Workforce Development Center. They also have a lot of resources and advice for job hunters. I am from the north and when I moved to Kentucky, I had a little problem finding a job, too. Language can be a barrier... even when you're from the same country! lol
Also check at temporary job services, sometimes it will get you through til you find a regular job or it may help you get your foot in the door with a great company.
Best of luck to you!

I am an American who graduated in May with an Associate Degree and still have not found a job in my field. I have no former experience either, but what I do is keep on applying. Evidently the right job just hasn't come along yet.

"Number crunching" is the same all over. You just need to understand the accounting rules in the US. I would recommend that you look at temp agencies, or search job sites such as Monster.com or craiglist.com.
