In a biology experiment, different types of foods were tested to find out whether they contain any the following organic compounds: Lipids, proteins, starch and glucose. Water was also used as the control. Explain why water was used as the control in this experiment.

Water was used as a control because it should come back negative on all those tests because it contains no organic molecules.
