I HAVE A 1994 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. 6 CYLINDER, FULL TIME ALL WHEEL DRIVE. WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT MY R.P.M. METER GOES UP AND DOWN, DOES IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY SPARK PLUGS? I HAVE NEVER REPLACED THEM BEFORE, AND I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY I HAVE?

I'm not dodge- man,but here's some info that might assist you. The symtoms of your cars problems lead me to believe the fault lies in "the intake-air components". Idle speed control/throttle body/sensors. Sometimes a "service/cleaning' or adjustment will remedy the fault. But the majority of times a "part" needs to be replaced in conjunction with clean/adj. A trip to your Dependable Auto-tech would be wise. Good luck!

if its a 6 cylinder, you have 6 spark plugs, one for each cylinder.
It is possible that you need spark plugs, but i would think you would notice a hesitation or rough running when driving also. There are quite a number of maintenance items that can cause this concern. I reccomend having a Chrysler dealer inspect the plugs first to see if they look bad, then replace if they do. If they say they are ok, then have them reccomend some other maintenace items and slowly work on them as you can afford. Vehicles need regular maintenance to take care of you.

first off you have 6 spark plugs and the reason you have an idle
probleb is becouse your idle air control valve is probley sticking
and needs to be replaced or cleaned. It can be located on your intake manifold near your throttle plate. I might not be a bad idea
to clean your throttle butterflies with throttle body cleaner, I can be found in any parts store and is similar to carb cleaner, but is
diferent and don`t use carb cleaner no matter what you hear.

Not spark plugs. I had the same problem on my Durango. It's called a TPS, or throttle position sensor. Part is around $80.00 and it'll cost about $50 to install. Good luck!

Not 100% sure but i am thinking of your fuel injection.....Get a can of injector cleaner and add it to your gas They may just need a good cleaning...Also when is the last time you had the fuel filter changed?
