There's a mucous plug in the cervix that comes out late in pregnancy. 36 weeks is a perfectly normal time for that to happen. It may even have a tiny streak of blood on it at times. But it's nothing to worry about! Your cervix is softening and starting to slightly dilate in preparation for the baby's arrival a couple of weeks down the line! Congrats!

It could be... your natural discharge gets thicker and greater during pregnancy, and more so as it progresses.

If it was a great deal of gelatinous discharge, followed later by contractions and eventually a lot of fluid I might call it labor, it might have been your mucus plug.

If you're concerned call your doctor and see what he thinks :)

If there was a pinkish tinge to it you may have lost your mucus plug. It's nothing to be concerned about. It's just something that happens as your cervix begins effacing and/or dilating.

It could be your mucus plug, if not it is nothing to worry about. Ask your doctor at your next visit. Not too much longer, congrats!!

You may be losing your mucous plug! It's very normal and signals that you are nearing the end of your pregnancy.

no your exam was not the cause. this is something that is supposed to happen towards the end of pregnancy. it's just your body preparing for labor.
