There are so many!!!!!!!
I love Zack Wylde. all his riffs kick ***! 'specially on Mr. Crowley and No more tears.
Black Sabbath. Iron Man.
Also when Slash did that part in November Rain, among many others, like sweet child 'o mine and Paradise city.
Pink Floyd is my all time favorite band. I love everything they did. Comfortably numb is one of the best. There are amazing riffs on the Final Cut and Not now John also.

Led Zeppelin. Stairway to heaven.
Carlos Santana. Black magic woman.
Judas Preist. Breaking the Law.

I like both of those a lot, but one that I think is awesome & has always been severely overlooked is the one at the end of Drop Dead Legs by Van Halen. The one in the middle of the song is good, too, but the one at the end is great.

There are SO many good ones out there. And I think everyone that answered is right. But I'd probably go with Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl." Very simple, but effective, and I always liked it. I also like it because it was one of the first guitar things I figured out for myself.

A guitar RIFF is a sort, repeating phrase...like Welcome to the Jungle, Back in Black, Sweet Emotion, etc...you're talking more about a melody, or a guitar PART...

Sorry to get technical on you, but that's what I do...
