I would say yes At a public reading in NY this summer (2006) JK Rowling revealed that Dumbledore was really dead. As we all know the protection charm that Harry's mother gave him by putting herself infront of Voldemort was to be expired with Harry's 17th birthday. Now the question is, was Snape really bad? or did Dumbledore ordered him to kill him. In this theory, Dumbledore took Harry intentionally, protected him with stupification, and was hit by the AK from Snape. This also helped him to convince Draco to change sides. Was this the Dumbledore's plan that Snape was arguing with him that Hagrid overheard?

Here is my theory:
I don't think Snape is evil. I believe it was part of DD's plan to overcome Voldemort--now he will trust Snape more and perhaps relax now that the only wizard he was ever afraid of is now dead. I think Snape will be one of the characters that dies though. He will die to save Harry because it is really his fault that Voldemort is after him. Snape was the one who told Voldemort about the prophecy afterall and he kind of owes Harry in a weird way. It will be very heroic and sad.
Hopefully we will find out on 07/07/07-the rumored date of the final book's release!!

The protection charm Harry received from Lily was a special, one of the kind, as we find out. She was given a choice to live - Dumbledore wasn't. So therefore, it is not the same thing. Also, Dumbledore is not related to Harry, so again, a different thing.

Dumbledore put the Immobulus charm onto Harry to stop him getting hurt or worse - but, along with that, to stop him interfering, and trying to protect the former headmaster.

Dumbledore was an intelligent man. He knew his life was drawing to an end, what with his reflexes not being the same as they once was (for example, the dead hand). I think the very fact that he took Harry in search of the Horcruxes (and all the information of Voldemort's past) was a clear sign that he knew he may not last till the end of the school year, and needed to impart as much important knowledge onto Harry as he possibly could. Now did he know of the Unbreakable Vow?

I'd say yes. The argument between Snape and Dumbledore, and the look of hatred on Snape's face when he was doing the deed all point that way. And of course, the plea for Dumbledore - I think that he was pleaing for Snape to just kill him already.
The idea of killing Dumbledore was obviously not an appealing thing for Snape - not so much being of any compassion he may feel for Dumbledore, but once he kills the greatest wizard of the time, he will NEVER be able to rejoin normal society. He will be a hated man (and more so than normal), for the rest of his life.

But the big question is: Is snape good or bad?

He is neither, in my opinion, which makes him more dangerous than Voldemort himself. I believe Snape only ever does what's best for him. By being a spy for so many years, he's kept himself safe from both sides, and now the leader of the Order is dead, he will join the dark side (so to speak), because it's the best thing for him. I believe he is a man that works for no one, and I from all the years we've seen him in the books, I'd hate to think of his as anything other.

Oh, as for Draco. We already know that Dumbledore did manage to get through to Draco's heart, or conscience, and stall him - and I do think Dumbledore intended that. When he saw the Dark Mark over the school, I do believe he realised this was his finally night of life, and knew he was to be murdered - and if he was aware of the Unbreakable Vow, then knew what must happen. As well as Dumbledore being an intelligent man, he was compassionate, and he would have wanted to keep Draco's soul in one piece, so he still had a chance to be good.

Any other questions?

No; I don't think that Dumbledore performed a new protection charm through the A.K. Snape cast on him. I think the point of the protection that Harry's mother's sacrifice ending when he comes of age at the beginning of Book 7, is the same as the purpose for Dumbledore and Sirius being killed, it makes Harry realize that he is meant to face Voldemort as an adult and on his own.

I think that Snape is and always has been evil. I think he joined the Death Eaters because he wanted more power and he shared their beliefs about purity of blood. He was smart enough to realize Voldemort is a sociopath that is willing to torture/kill his allies as well as his enemies, so he protected himself by being valuable to him as a double agent with Dumbledore. He wants to be free of Voldemort, but he knows he'll be killed if he tries to quit like Karkaroff did. Having overheard some of the prophesy, he knows that Harry is the only one with the power to "vanquish" Voldemort, so he has been helping him even though he hates him. I don't think that he wants to become the new Dark Lord, just wants his freedom. I imagine he resented being a used as a pawn between Voldemort and Dumbledore, probably hated both of them.

I don't believe that Dumbledore arranged it so that Snape was to kill him in a given situation. Killing is the ultimate act of evil and tears one's soul -- an unnatural state. Dumbledore is a *good* guy and wouldn't ask someone to do that for him. Dumbledore stupified Harry, hidden under the invisibility cloak so that he couldn't interfere in (and would be forced to overhear) his discussion with Draco where he convinced him to turn to the Order for help. He believed that Draco was not beyond redemption and he wanted to make Harry realize that too, which he now does. Harry knows he wouldn't have killed Dumbledore and had been blackmailed into his attempts to. He wanted him to work with Draco when the time comes and now he will.

I think that Dumbledore was pleading with Snape not to truly turn to Voldemort, rather than for his life. He knows that the Order doesn't like or trust Snape and with him gone, he doesn't want Snape to return to the Death Eaters. I think that Hagrid overheard Dumbledore and Snape arguing about Snape and Harry, who he finds incredibly difficult to tolerate, as we saw when he quit teaching him Occlumency and when he tortured him when he fled the Hogwarts grounds with Draco.

I think Snape isn't bad i think him and dumbledore did come up with the plan, but i dont think harry has a new protection spell on him, as such spells any work when you're a child, in the harry potter books you become considered an adult when you're 17 so there wouldn't be much point.

i believe Snape is evil, but that doesn't mean that he and DD didn't hatch this little scheme. He was a double agent for years, so for him, i guess anything goes. As for a new protection charm, i was under the impression that only a parents love could create that kind of magic, so i would definitely say, no he has no extra protection resulting from DDs death, if anything, he has an even bigger target on his back now than ever before.

I don't think Snape is evil, I think there is something we don't know yet, and Dumbledore ordered Snape to do it.
