I've got a side bet going on with one of my co-workers. So I really just want to best him.

Turn the pumpkin sideways like they did in the Pottery Barn mag. and make the stem the nose and just carve eyes and a mouth. You'll have to make sure your pumpkin is not tall and skinny cause I don't think it'd look right like that.
