a bridal shower is where friends and family of the bride throw her a party to celebrate the upcomnig marriage, and to "shower" her with gifts.
a bridal registry is a system in stores that allow a bride and groom to choose gifts that suit their style, tastes, and needs so that guests at the wedding or the shower can buy gifts they know they will like. You fill out a form at the customer service, they give you a scanner-gun and you go choose what you like out of the different departments. the computer keeps this on file for you so when people come in to the store and ask about your file, they can print out a sheet and they can shop according to that list.
